Sample 2: Our most popular glass door is the Brookfield from Design Specialties. This door comes in a variety of stock sizes and can be custom made if a stock size does not fit. There are many finish options as well such as satin chrome, black, antique brass, rust, natural iron and more. The picture shows a polished brass finish.

Sample 1A: Typical flagstone fireplace with glass doors mortared in. Move your mouse over to see a sample of how this fireplace looks without the glass doors. Featuring the Blacksmith door from Design Specialties.

Sample 1B: We specialize in having glass doors made for rock fireplaces. Doors like these need to be custom made and installed with mortar. We can walk you through the entire process. Featuring the Design Specialties Custom Legend with All Glass Option.

Sample 1C: Here's another example of a rock fireplace with glass doors that are mortared in. Featuring the FDM Aztec door in Natural Iron.

Sample 1D: Here's another example of a rock fireplace with glass doors that are mortared in. Featuring the Design Specialties Stilletto in Satin Bronze with mesh panel backup doors. This door is particullary good for average to smaller fireplace openings since the frame is so narrow it will not shrink the opening very much.

Sample 2: Here's a very intersting craftsman style fireplace with an extra opening for wood storage. We suggested these custom craftsman style doors we designed with a rust and satin nickel finish combination. Featuring the Ovation Deco doors from Portland Willamette.

Sample 3: This fireplace is beautiful just as it is, so the glass doors we would recommend would be very minimalistic so-as to not distract from it's elegance. Featuring the Design Specialties Elite in Graphite finish with gray glass.

Sample 4: Here's an example of a common mistake made while finishing off a prefabricated fireplace. The after picture shows the hearth being raised so that there is a better proportion to the fireplace. More of the black metal should have been covered in the original installation as well as is depicted in our example. Featuring the Design Specialties Brookfield ZC in black with a matching wood holder and fireplace tool set.

Sample 5: It's not uncommon that we see prefabricated fireplaces where all of the black metal is still exposed. Particullarly when they are heat circulating fireplaces like the sample above that is installed inside a wall of mirror. Glass doors with a frame made to cover the entire black metal fireplace and grills can make a dramatic improvement in the look. Featuring a custom glass door with a louvered frame by Design Specialties.

Sample 6: Here's another example showning a custom glass door with a louvered frame by Design Specialties.

Sample 6C: Here's another example showning a custom glass door with a louvered frame by Design Specialties.

Sample 7: Sometimes people just need to see what a door will look like on their fireplace before they make a purchase, so we do this for them. Featuring the Brookfield in a Bronze finish by Design Specialties.

Sample 8A: Some people prefer mesh panel doors instead of glass doors. The original picture depicts flat wire mesh door without glass, whereas the mouseover picture shows it with glass instead of mesh. You can actully have both as well so that you can burn the fire with the glass doors open and still have the rugged protection of the flat wire mesh. The mesh panel door is the Carolina by Design Specialties. If you prefer this style with glass, it would be the Legend Series and would have a more finished look with mitered corners (not shown).

Sample 8A: Here's an example of a very elegant glass door model DF1G-48 (or mesh door model DF1M-48) with a solid brass frame and sold brass casting door trim in an Old English finish made by Stone Manufacturing. The mouseover image shows the Design Specialties Carolina Mesh Panel Door which creates a more craftsman style fireplace. You can see how either option transforms the fireplace into a more defined style.

Sample 8A: Here's an example of the Design Specialties Carolina Mesh Panel Door in black.

Sample 9: The person who sent us this picture wanted to see the difference between a standard rectangular door and a bay style door, so we created this sample by morphing the first picture a bit. If you look closely, you will see that the bay door actually uses 8 pieces of glass to create the curve. Both doors would be custom made by FDM.

Sample 10: Most people think of fireplace doors as being contemporary in style, however that's not really true. Finding the right style fireplace doors is important with a fireplace like this...which is not contemporary at all. Featuring the Revival door custom made by FDM.

Sample 11: It used to be that everything was brass...but now there are so many finishes to choose from. In some cases we are able to show how 2 different finishes might look on your fireplace so you can make the right decision. This example shows polished brass in the first picture and a dark bronze finish in the second. Which do you like best? Featuring Custom Legend Doors from Design Specialties.

Sample 12: Here's another example of how 2 different finishes look. The first is a matte black and the second is a satin nickel. Both doors are custom Silhouette Doors by Design Specialties.

Sample 13: Here's a great reason why we want to see a picture of your fireplace before we recommend any glass doors. Notice the ledge above the opening. A fireplace like this requires a custom door that is made to fit under the ledge. Many people make the mistake of purchasing a standard size from a local home center and end up taking it back once they realize it won't fit. Featuring the Design Specialties Custom Blacksmith Door.

Sample 14: We can have doors made for pretty much any fireplace. In this example of an L-shaped prefabricated fireplace, we would use 2 separate doors. Featuring Design Specialties Brookfield-ZC doors in polished brass.

Sample 15: Here's an example of a typical L-shaped masonry fireplace with a 2 glass doors that are attached to each other at the corner. Featuring the Design Specialties Brookfield in Satin Chrome.

Sample 16: This is one of our less expensive options. The frame is made of plated brass. Notice that the frame is wider...particularly at the top than most of the other doors you see on this page. Less expensive doors will have wider frames like this because they come in fewer stock sizes to fit more fireplaces. Featuring the Portland Willamette Contemporary Original in Polished Brass.

Sample 17: Here's one called the Hearthworks shown in a pewter finish. This a a custom door made by FDM and can have glass, mesh panel doors or both.

Sample 18: Here's a the Blacksmith Door from Design Specialties made in an arch. The proportions are off a bit at the top of the arch due to distortions caused when editing the image.
